The classroom was filled with students when you walked in. You looked around and saw an older woman sitting behind the desk in front of the class. There was a lot of noise so no one noticed you. You walked over to the woman and waited for her to see you. She looked down at the papers and she crossed out a lot of words with a red marker while she softly growled. “Hello, my name is (Y/N). I’m new here.” You said and she looked up. “Ah, Hello (Y/N). My name is Miss Kirkland.” She shook your hand and stood up. “Class! We have a new student. Her name is (Y/N) and I want you to help her if she needs something.” She shouted and the class went silence immediately.  Miss Kirkland told you to find yourself a seat and so you did.

You sat down in front of the class next to someone who didn’t gave you one look. It was a blonde guy with huge eyebrows and a crabby look. You said hi but there was no response. The rest of lesson you looked around. There were all sorts of groups and in the break they made it even more visible. There was this grand hall that was filled with tables and chairs.

Every table had their own identity. You had the cheerleaders, the nerds, the football players, the musicians, the hipsters and next to all the other groups you had the popular group. You could recognize them immediately. There were a few boys sitting on that table and a whole group of crying girls around them. You shook your head and looked around. You decided to just eat your food on the toilet but when you wanted to walk away a boy showed up in front of you. “Hey, you’re that new girl, right?” You looked at him and you nodded. “Cool, my name is Alfred. If you need any help just ask! I’m a hero after all!” He smiled and grabbed your hand to shake it. “(Y/N).” You said softly and he walked away. You watched him sitting on the popular table and you shook your head again.

Last school you sat on the toilet a lot, but here were this little holes in the grand hall where you could sit so that’s what you did. You sat down and grabbed your earphones out your bag. You pulled it on your head and the music started to play trough your ears. The break lasted for half an hour so you had all the time. You watched the different groups but your head was still with the boy from the popular table. He was talking to a white hairy boy. You couldn’t see his face because he was sitting with his back towards you. On his head sat this cute little bird.

A lot of memories ran through your head while you looked at the bird. Tears welled up and ran over your cheeks. You closed your eyes and the bell rang to tell the students that the lessons were going to begin. You quickly opened your eyes and grabbed your grate to look at the next lesson. “Art.” You said happily and out of nowhere the little cute bird was sitting on your shoulder. “Hello little one.” You said warmly and the bird coved his head in your jumper. A little sad smiled ran over your face when you heard someone yell.

“Gilbird! Gilbird! Come here!”

“Gilbird is your name, huh?” Come, you have to get back to your boss!” You said softly while you stoke the little yellow bird. You looked around for the boy but you couldn’t find him and because it was your first day in school and you didn’t want to be late you decided to handle that later.

You walked over to the art class and saw the same white hairy guy. His back was pointing at you so you nervously patted him on his shoulder. He quickly turned around and smiled at you when he saw the little bird on your shoulder. “Hey, um, sorry, your bird just flew of and sat on my shoulder.” You said and you felt your cheeks turn red.

“Thank you, frau. Me, the awesome Gilbert is thanking you for bringing the awesome Gilbird back to me. But of course you already knew my name.” “Um, no. Sorry, this is my first day here.” The two of you walked into the classroom and he pointed at the chair next to his so you sat down next to him. Immediately you felt the eyes from the other girls looking at your back like loaded guns. “New you say? Well then, my name is the awesome Gilbert. Nice to meet you.” He said and he grabbed your hand. “(Y/N).” You whispered and you pinned your eyes down at your table so he wouldn’t notice your blush. The art teacher came into the classroom and started to read down the list of names. When he was done you pointed your hand into the air to tell him that you were the new student.

“Thank you (Y/N). So class, today we’re going to draw something about ourselves. We are going to draw the perfect world. You go grab your pencil and start drawing a world like you want to. A world with dragons, pirates and flowers so high that they can reach the sky. Draw whatever you want to, and remember. There is no wrong in a piece of art that comes with fantasy.”

The teacher walked through the class and gave some hints for the people who got stuck. You saw some people grab their music so you decided to do the same so you could concentrate better. And while you were drawing you forget about everything around you. You didn’t care where you were or what time it was. You didn’t care if people were looking over your shoulder. The only thing that was important was you and your paper.

When you were done you turned off the music and looked over your piece of art. Gilbert looked at your paper and looked at you. He wanted to say something but then he saw you crying so he closed his mouth again. He shove his chair closed towards you and pulled you into a hug. More tears came and you knew that people were watching. You removed Gilbert’s arms and covered your head in your hand while you ran away.

“Mister Gilbert, why is miss (Y.N) crying?” The teacher asked but he had no idea. They both looked at the paper. Two persons were depicted. One older woman and an older man. The paper was so beautiful that it looked like a picture, everything was perfect. “Wow.” Gilbert said and the teacher just nodded.

You were long gone when the bell rang. You were on your way at home. You didn’t care a single but about what just happened. When you came home you ran to your room and fell down at your bed. More tears came and you never felt more empty before. You fell asleep while you cried, still covering your head. When you woke up it was already dark. You walked over to the mirror and tried to erase the dark circles under your eyes. Your eyes were red from the tears. You washed your face and walked downstairs.

“(Y/N), I saw you were sleeping so I decided not to wake you up for dinner, here.” An old woman handed over a plate and went back to the kitchen while you ate. You ate in complete silence and when you were done you brought back your plate to the kitchen. You saw a little tears ran down the face of your grandma and you hugged her tight.

“I miss them grandma.” You whispered and she smiled sadly. “I know my child, I know.”
That evening you and your grandparents watched a movie you hadn’t seen like forever. ‘The incredible journey.’ When it ended you wished them a goodnight sleep and went off to bed. Next thing you wanted to do in the morning was pretending that yesterday never happened.

~~Time skip produced but the cute little yellow Gilbert~~

Of course that would never happen. You weren’t much longer at school then ten minutes when someone patted your shoulder. When you turned around you saw Gilbert. He smiled at you and handed over your paper. “You are a great artist, (Y/N). I don’t know what happened yesterday but I feel bad for you. I hope you feel better now.” A sad smile crossed your face. “Yeah, thanks.” You wanted to turn around but he grabbed your wrist. “Hey, you know. If you feel like talking. Here’s my number.” He handed over another paper and walked away.
This was your second day at school and you were one of the most popular girls in the school. You already noticed that there weren’t any girls sitting on the popular table, just hanging around it. But here you stood, your second day at school and you had Gilbert Beilschmidt’s phone number. A lot of girls asked for his number but you turned them all down. And that was just your first half hour.

“Don’t be so bitchy, you can’t have it just for yourself. That’s totally slutty. I can tell you, you’re not pretty enough to be his girlfriend so just hand the paper over to me. “Sorry I can’t do that. I won’t just give someone else number away. That’s private information. If you want it you have to ask him.”

Finally miss Kirkland exclaimed everybody to shut up and you had your rest for that day. Hah, no, you wish. Just for that hour. After English you had math and after that you had the first break. You were walking to the great hall when you bumped into another boy. Honestly, he was gorgeous. His skin was tanned and he had beautiful green eyes, wavy brown hair and he smelled like tomatoes. “Sorry chica! I didn’t mean to knock you all over the place. Here let me help you with your books.” He sat down on the ground next to you and helped you grabbing your books off the floor.

“Honhonhon, mon ami had a new girlfriend!” You felt your cheeks warming up even more when you noticed that he was talking about you. “Kesesese, hey (Y/N)! Why won’t you come sit with us?” Gilbert said and you looked up surprised. “You know this girl, Gilbert?” The tanned boy asked and you nodded. “Yeah, met yesterday.” You quickly said and Gilbert helped you up. “These are my two best friends, Antonio and Francis.” Gilbert said and walked over to the popular table, with Francis and Antonio following him. And because Antonio was still holing all your books you had no other choice than to follow them.
“Hey there (Y/N)! How’s your second day here?” Alfred said and you smiled at him. “Okay, I guess.” He laughed and you looked at the others on the table. “This is my best friend, Arthur, you can call him Iggy, and my little bro Matthew!” Alfred said and you nodded. You knew Arthur. He was sitting next to you in English class and didn’t bother talking to you. However, no he even smiled. Matthew, a little blonde hairy guy with an odd curl sticking out of the left side of his head looked down at his plate.

He looked somehow cute. But then again, it wasn’t very hard not to see him. He didn’t talk and some sort of hide behind his big brother. The break was over in no time. You talked to Francis who tried to figure out you bra size, Alfred said that he does that more often. When the break was over you had a little more knowledge about the popular group. You had Matthew, just sitting there because of his brother, didn’t say one word. Alfred, loves to eat and play videogames. Arthur said he was afraid of ghosts. Alfred said different.

Arthur was a strange boy. His huge eyebrows nearly covered up his whole face, so it seemed. He seemed pretty nice but still he had this grumpy look like he really didn’t want to be here. He did call you milady, the whole time. It seemed to be a real gentleman. Francis, really creepy. After one time guessing he knew your bra size, but obliviously you didn’t tell him he was right. He seemed to like you. Antonio, a nice boy who loved turtles and tomatoes. He was this very happy boy. You just couldn’t imagine that someone would dislike him. And then you had Gilbert. Somehow he was the alfaguy. Everyone was listening to him and all the girls seemed to want his number. He was beautiful and smart but his ego.. Yeah well.

The next lesson was history. You had that class with Francis and he wanted you to sit next to him. You didn’t made a big deal about it and you felt like you were a little one of them already. They wanted you to sit next to them and they were all kind, Arthur was kind in some sort of way. “So, is it an E?” “Would you drop it already?” You laughed and he smiled childish. “Why? Am I close?” “No of course not! And if you were, I wouldn’t tell you. And besides you had all the sizes six times now. Drop it. Please!” He nodded and you sighed relived.

“So it is E.”

“Shut up.”

“Honhonhonhon!”

“URGH!”

After History came Biology and then you were free. You grabbed your stuff and walked out of the school. You were just home when your mobile phone rang. You looked at your whatsapp massage and giggled.

‘Hey (Y/N), Sorry for steeling your phone and getting your number. Just wanted to talk with you and the awesome me didn’t want to bother you with your bra conversation with Francis, kesesese! How are you? Btw, Gilbird says hi!”

You placed your mobile back in your pants and walked over to the kitchen. “Hi grandpa, I’m home.” You drank something with him and then you went upstairs to do your homework. You grabbed your phone again and typed a message.

‘No problem! I never noticed you stealing my phone. I’m okay, thanks for checking. You? Hugs to Gilbird!’

You finished your homework and went down for dinner. Your grandparents asked a lot about your school and you tried to give a butt load of answers but you just were too tired. However when you were upstairs you felt everything except tired so you talked a bit more with Gilbert. It was nearly night when you fell asleep.

That week you were sitting in the popular table and people knew your name when you walked down the halls. Rumors started to spread that you were dating Gilbert but he didn’t seem to be upset about it. So you just smiled and shrugged like you had no idea.

You were here now for almost one month and still nobody asked about your past. Sure they tried but when they did, you started to cry or you came in some sort of trance where you stared into dead space and weren’t able to answer any sort of questions.

‘(Y/N), I know it’s late but can we meet? I need to talk to you.’ You were already lying in bed with a trainings pants and an oversized shirt. ‘Sure, where?’ Ten minutes later you and Gilbert were walking on the streets. He picked you up from your house. You sleep in the back of the house and because of the balcony, which is very easy to climb on, he came to your bedroom. “Hi.” He said after you opened the balcony door.

Nervously he stroke through his hair and asked you to follow him. So there you was, in the middle of the night wandering over the streets. “So, what happened before you moved here?” He finally asked after a long awkward silence. You sighed and nodded.

“It happened a half year ago. I was with a friend, and when I came back our house was on fire. I felt like I was kicked in the stomach and fell of my bicycle. The firemen were already there just like the police and the ambulance. I hit my head on the pavement and went into a coma for almost three months. When I woke up I had to deal with the news that my parents, my dog and my bird were dead. Burned to ashes.

A little soft noise came out of Gilberts mouth. “I feel so sorry for you (Y/N), I mean, that so not awesome.”

“Thank you Gilbert.”

“I came here because I had this big fight with my bro, Ludwig. I never told anyone about my home situation but I suppose it would only be fair. My mom died when I was three and my dad left long before that. So I was alone with my two brothers, Roderich and Ludwig. They took care for me and they still do. He stopped talking and grabbed your hand. Tears ran over your red cheeks and a little smile crossed your face.

Gilbert took you to the famous hill of the city. On top of the hill was an old building that was empty for over ten years. “We have to climb to the top.” He said and shoved this old rotten plate away so you could easily enter the building. When you came to the top there was this door and behind the door was the roof. Because it was one of the highest buildings in the town you could lay down and see all the stars, so that was exactly what you did.

“It’s beautiful.” You said and Gilbert simply nodded. His arm was wrapped around you. Another blush came up and you hoped that he wouldn’t see it. For more than an hour you two laid down there talking and watching the stars.

“I better get home now.” You said and he smirked. “It’s almost three.” He said and you opened your eyes in shock. “I have to get up early!” Quickly you and Gilbert ran back home. “Thank you for this wonderful night.” You said and he came closer to you. “(Y/N), I really like you. You’re really awesome.” “I like you too.” You softly answered and then you felt his lips touch yours. You closed your eyes and you felt Gilbert pulling you closer to him. When he broke up the kiss you were completely red but then again, so was he.

“Awesome night (Y/N)!” He said and you waved him goodbye before you closed the door from the balcony and crawled back into bed. It took ages before you finally could fall asleep, at least so it seemed. Were you together now? You didn’t know. You really liked Gilbert.
The next day at school Antonio ran towards you. “Heya (Y/N) Beilschmidt! Fusosososo, yes I heard!” You giggled and hugged Antonio. “I’m really happy for you (Y/N), I mean, Gilbert had it’s issues, about pride and awesomeness but he really is a good boyfriend.” You nodded and smiled.

Out of nowhere you were picked up from the ground and pulled into another beer hug from Gilbert. “Good morning, mein liebe frau!” He said and he placed you back on the ground so you could turn around and face him. You kissed him in the great hall and didn’t even care
that everyone was watching.

You had a boyfriend, and that was all that matters.
